Perspectives, Proposals and Thoughts on Paud Phata - Balbharati Link Road project in Pune

The issue of whether to build the Paud Road – Balbharati Link road has been much debated in the media, amongst stakeholders, at public meetings and amongst political parties. However, we at BNCA realized that no two sources of information on this issue match and there is a need to first understand the stands taken by the concerned stakeholders before coming to any conclusion as to the road’s merits and demerits.

A group of Masters of Environmental Architecture students at Dr B N college of Architecture decided to get involved and understand the various perspectives of the different stakeholders of this project. To make this exercise interesting, roles were assigned to the students, each representing the four major stakeholders, namely The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), The Project Builder, The NGOs and The directly affected Citizens

Each of these players has developed their own stand based on the inputs of the concerned stakeholders in Pune. Finally, the entire group has deliberated on this issue to come up with possible next steps for Pune’s development regarding this project in particular.
